Language resources – Look it up!

Have you ever wondered about using a certain term or how best to resolve a particular language issue? The resources provided on this page could help you. We have found them useful in the course of our work and therefore provide the links below. Use your own discretion to determine whether they will suit your purpose.

You will find the Language Centre’s own style guides under ‘Monolingual resources’, and our Afrikaans-English translation equivalents and details on subject-specific terminology lists under ‘Bilingual and multilingual resources, Stellenbosch University’.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, you are welcome to contact Elzette Wickens (021 808 9008).

How to make the most of these resources

1. Be sure to pick the right term or tip for the context in question.
2. Consider whether –
a) there are other preferences or requirements, such as institution-specific terms, and
b) the term or tip has become obsolete or outdated since the link was posted on this page.
