Facilitators
Our facilitators are experts in academic writing with a practical and supportive approach to writers and their development.
Location
The specific venue will be communicated before the workshop. Refreshments, lunch, Wi-Fi and a comfortable space in which to write will be provided.
You’re welcome to come and spend the day with us from 09:00 to 16:30 to work on your thesis, proposal or article. We begin with a few warm-up writing exercises to get you started. The rest of the day you spend writing in a supportive environment. A facilitator will be present throughout to assist you with your writing. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Bring your laptop and any writing equipment you might need. We’ll provide WiFi, extension cords and additional multi-plugs.
Anyone can attend, but the writing marathons are specifically aimed at postgraduate students and researchers busy writing a proposal or protocol, thesis or dissertation, or academic article. We are happy to accommodate all levels of language and writing proficiency.
A maximum of 20 participants can be accommodated in the marathon. To enrol for the marathon, please click on the ‘Enrol now’ button below or at the top, and complete and submit the online enrolment form. The Writing Lab reserves the right to cancel the marathon should there be an insufficient number of enrolments.
A week before the marathon starts, you will receive an email from Selene Delport with the payment details and logistical information.
Please note that the full fee will be levied if you cancel your enrolment after the closing date, or if you fail to attend. To cancel your enrolment, please email Selene Delport directly.
Attending a writing marathon will help you make substantial progress with your proposal, thesis or article. You will have uninterrupted writing time as well as a facilitator on standby to provide immediate individual feedback and support.
