Who is the target audience?
First-year students in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.
Why is this module important?
This module focuses on written communication in the professional business environment and the skills required to communicate effectively in this environment.
What do students learn in this module?
Not only do we look at the various documents commonly used in the professional world, such as proposals, reports and official correspondence, but we also equip students with the ‘tools’ that they would need to create such documents effectively. A bonus is that they will be able to apply the skills they have learnt in this module immediately to complete tasks in their other subjects.

How is the module presented?
First-year students in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences may take this elective module in the second semester in 2020. The module is presented in Afrikaans and in English, and will be replaced in 2021 by a Business Communication module compulsory for all first-year students in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.

Who is the target audience?
First-year students in the Faculty of Engineering.
Why is this module important?
This module strives to be a first step towards the stated exit level outcomes of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) that graduating engineers should demonstrate competence to communicate effectively with engineering audiences and the community at large.
What do students learn in this module?
In this module, first-year engineering students get the opportunity to start developing the writing skills they will need as members of the professional engineering community.
